Nucleo McRaven Scrapbook (Page 8)

Some more old conceptual and storyboard art of Prof. McRaven. The one on the left is one of the first times I ever drew Cory, which is partially why it looks so goofy. I was trying to figure out how to design a character who has the same body structure as a demon-elf, and yet somehow still looks like Nucleo. The one on the right is one of the few old pictures in which his wings are visible. It looks like at the time I drew that storyboard I was getting better at drawing his arms.

A couple more. These were water damaged in the apartment flood. Ah, role reversals. First Samantha helps an unconscious 'Cleo, and then in a later episode, he tries to help her...She had more luck, though, since he's way too small to carry her.

Christopher's caught himself a mountain devil.

This one's unfinished. Nucleo is protecting Cory from an attack by a horde of Grimms, but I haven't drawn the Grimms yet.

'Cleo distracts Cory's attention with a rubber ball while he gets some studying done.

...and this is the reason why...

Cory's not taking her training too seriously...

Sorry for the overflowing amount of cuteness here. The main reason I drew this one is because I was somewhat worried that my multitude of funny Cory and Nucleo pictures might give off the impression that they don't get along or don't like each other. They're a humorous father-daughter team that gets into some funny arguments and situations sometimes, but otherwise they get along okay.

Young Nucleo McRaven and Image Arcane. I would like to thank the many acoustic guitar players pictured on Google Images that helped me with the positioning of 'Cleo's hands, since all of my drawing books were too lame to have any useful pictures of someone playing a guitar..

I need to explain this one a little bit: I originally drew this so that I could contrast the differences between an Aridian Mountain Devil (Nucleo) and a Nispatian Mountain Devil (Talon). When I drew 'Cleo, I didn't intend for him to be interacting with Talon and thus I drew him with his standard "I'm lost in thought and look grumpier than I really am" expression. When I drew in Talon, he appeared to be clamoring for 'Cleo's attention while the professor was getting angry with him. But that's not really the case. Anyway, the weirdest thing about it is that I didn't realize the strange property that the shape and size of Talon's feet give his articulation. He has incredible balance and it almost seems like his feet could act as a second set of hands.
